Come Dance. Come Jam. Come Play.
Here's why we created The 719 Swing 'n Jam:
- To provide a space for the community to hang out, meet new people and have a pleasant time :)
- To help grow the Colorado Springs dance community and bring about a greater sense of pride to our scene!
- To turn dancers into musicians and musicians into dancers.

I like to dance. I like to play instruments. I'm a lot better at the former. I wanna be better at the latter. Oh, and I like people. So, 719 Swing 'n Jam was born! I'm happy to show anyone a move or concept at any point, so just grab me if you have questions! My goal in any lesson is to give my audience exactly the experience they're looking for, whether that's a couple slick moves for a wedding or a deep dive into competition technique. Connor FolzSenior Dance Instructor (Lead)
bIO
Connor is a prime example of how far you can go when you power through the uncomfortable new stages and stick to it. He began began dancing Lindy Hop nearly a year ago. He's built up a solid move vocabulary, refined technique all along the way and is now one of our go to instructors. He provides a clear lead in both his dancing and his instruction, but has also learned to keep his connection light and carefree, which is a challenge we've all faced! |
Brendan BurkeManager, Head Music Instructor and Senior Dance Instructor
bIO
Brendan joins us from California and is a great overall human being. He has attended workshops all over the country and shown commitment and kindness to all he encounters. Besides that, he's an amazing jazz pianist and can both lead and follow. He has a ton of enthusiasm for all things swing and is one of the main reasons why our dance has continue to run as long as it has. Sarah BardoSenior Dance Instructor (Follow)
bIO
Sarah was originally a ballroom dancer (before she came to the dark side that is swing, muahaha!) As such, she has a firm grasp on connection, rhythm and technique. She's continuing to refine her improvisational techniques and is always willing to explore new concepts with her students. Sarah isn't afraid to be heard and vocalize tips for follows during her lessons. Overall, she's a great resource if you're coming from a different style of dance :) |
Heather HawnManager, Dance Instructor (Follow)
bIO
Heather had never danced until in the fall of 2021 when a coworker taught basic dance lessons over lunch breaks at work. It wasn’t long before she got plugged into the Springs dance community, starting with WCS and country swing styles, and her passion for dancing was ignited. She took swing dancing lessons at the Loft (another Spring’s swing venue) and worked hard there to build her skills as a follow. Heather is excited to share her passion for dancing by teaching and drawing others into the dance community in the same way she was when she started dancing. Briana AustinSenior Dance Instructor
bIO
Bri has shown an exceptional natural knack for swing, but that hasn't stopped her from also putting in the hard work. She commutes up to the Denver scenes regularly and has strong improvisational skill. Aside from that, she's a natural at providing a warm and inclusive atmosphere. |
